Help build the part of education that has to actually work
We are a small team building teaching software used by people with a deadline — an exam, a visa, a job. That constraint makes the work concrete, and it makes shipping something half-finished obvious very quickly.
What it is like here
Small teams that own a whole area rather than a layer of it. If you build the mock-test engine, you also talk to the tutors marking with it and see the support tickets when it confuses someone. That loop is the job, not an interruption to it.
We write things down. Proposals, decisions and post-mortems live in documents that anyone can read and argue with, which is what makes a distributed team possible and meetings mostly unnecessary.
We are candid about the trade-off: a small company means real ownership and also fewer people to hand something to at 6pm. We would rather you knew that before you applied than after.
Open roles
Senior Backend Engineer

Curriculum Lead — IELTS

Nothing here that fits? Write to us anyway. We keep speculative applications on file and go back to them first when a role opens.
How we hire
Four steps, usually inside two weeks, and you hear back either way.
- 1
A short intro call
Thirty minutes with someone from the team you would join. What the role actually involves, what you are looking for, and whether it is worth either side continuing.
- 2
A practical exercise
Work resembling the real job — a code change, a lesson plan, a marking rubric. Time-boxed to about two hours, and we never use candidate work in the product.
- 3
A conversation about the exercise
You walk us through your thinking and we push on it. This is a discussion between colleagues, not a viva with a hidden right answer.
- 4
An offer, with the number in it
Salary bands are shared before you apply and we open at the band, not below it. We do not ask what you currently earn.
Benefits
Remote by default
The company was built remote rather than converted to it. Decisions are written down, so being in a room is never how work gets decided.
Health cover for your family
Medical insurance covering you, a partner and children, from your first day rather than after a probation period.
Leave you are expected to take
Paid annual leave with a minimum you are asked to use, plus public holidays wherever you actually live.
A learning budget, obviously
An annual budget for courses, conferences and books — including Learniv lessons, which is also how we find out what is broken.
Parental leave
Paid leave for all new parents regardless of how the child arrived, and a phased return rather than a cliff edge.
Equipment that suits the job
A machine you choose, a home-office allowance, and a real microphone for anyone who teaches or takes calls all day.
Teaching, rather than a desk job?
Tutors join on a different track from staff roles. You set your own hours and rates, teach from anywhere, and get the scheduling, payments and curriculum tooling handled for you.
Verification of your qualifications is part of onboarding — it is the reason learners trust the profiles on the platform.
