How we expect people to behave here

Learniv works because a stranger will get on a call and teach you something. These rules exist to keep that exchange safe enough that people keep showing up.

People collaborating respectfully in a group setting

Six rules that cover almost everything

They apply to lessons, messages, reviews and profile content alike — for tutors and learners equally.

Treat the lesson as a workplace

Tutors and learners are colleagues for an hour. Arrive on time, say when you need to cancel, and give the other person the courtesy you would want on a bad day.

Be who you say you are

Tutors teach under their real name and real qualifications. Learners under 18 need a guardian on the account. Impersonating anyone — including a tutor's credentials — ends the account.

Keep it about the learning

Messaging is for lessons, homework and scheduling. It is not a channel for personal solicitation, recruitment into other services, or contact after someone has asked you to stop.

Respect privacy

Do not record a lesson without the other person's explicit agreement, and never share a recording, a message or someone's work outside the lesson.

No harassment, ever

Sexual advances, slurs, threats, and discrimination on any protected ground are removed on sight and are not subject to a warning first.

Do not game the system

Fake reviews, duplicate accounts, moving payment off-platform to avoid protections, or sharing one account between learners all undermine everyone else.

Reporting something

Every lesson, message thread, review and profile has a report control. Reports are read by a person on the trust team, not by an automated filter, and you will be told what was decided even when the outcome is that no action was taken.

If you feel unsafe in a live lesson, leave it. You will not be charged for a lesson you ended because of a guideline breach, and you do not have to justify leaving before you report it.

Reporting in good faith never counts against you. Reporting someone repeatedly and without basis, in order to damage their rating, is itself a breach.

What happens after a report

The response is matched to what actually happened rather than applied by formula.

A warning

For first, minor breaches — a missed lesson without notice, a review that strays off the teaching. The content comes down and the account stays.

A suspension

For repeated breaches or a serious one-off. Bookings are cancelled and refunded; the account is paused while the case is reviewed.

A permanent ban

For harassment, threats, fraud, or anything involving a minor. Immediate, without a prior warning, and reported to the authorities where the law requires it.

You can appeal any decision once, and a different reviewer handles the appeal. If we get it wrong, we say so and restore the account.

Safeguarding learners under 18

A learner under 18 must be on a guardian-linked account. The guardian can see the lesson schedule, the tutor's profile and the message history at any time, and one-to-one lessons with a minor require the guardian to have accepted these guidelines.

Tutors who teach minors are subject to additional verification. Any concern raised about a minor is escalated immediately rather than queued.

Something happened in a lesson?

Support can pull the booking, the messages and the payment record together, and act the same day.
