Why we started
Most people who set out to learn a language do not fail for lack of motivation. They fail because the feedback loop is broken. Self-study apps are excellent at teaching you to recognise words and hopeless at teaching you to use them. Private tutoring works, but it is unstructured — two learners with the same tutor can spend a year going in completely different directions.
Learniv exists to close that gap. A tutor brings the conversation, correction and encouragement that software cannot. The platform brings the structure: a curriculum that knows what you covered last week, spaced practice on the vocabulary you personally got wrong, and mock exams marked against the real band descriptors. Neither half works nearly as well alone.

Progress over activity
Streaks and badges are easy to farm and easy to fake. We measure the things that actually predict fluency — words retained, speaking time, and score movement on real exam formats.
Tutors are the product
Software schedules the lesson, tracks the vocabulary and marks the mock test. The teaching is done by a person, because conversation is the part no algorithm has replaced.
Built for where learners are
Low-bandwidth video, offline lesson caching and a mobile app that works on a mid-range phone. A learner in a small town should get the same lesson as one in a capital city.
Straight answers about results
We publish how our score estimates are calculated and where they are uncertain. A platform that only reports its wins is not reporting.
How we work
Every subject on Learniv is designed by someone who has taught it. Curriculum leads write the week-by-week plan; working tutors review it against what actually happens in a lesson; the engineering team turns the result into the lesson player, the practice queue and the mock-test engine.
When those three disagree, the tutor usually wins. A feature that looks elegant in a product review and wastes ten minutes of a paid lesson is not a feature.
