Reviews you can actually reason about
A rating is only worth something if you know who was allowed to leave it and what happens to the bad ones. Here is exactly how reviews work on Learniv.
How the rules work
Only after a completed lesson
A review can only be left by an account that booked and attended a paid lesson with that tutor. There is no way to review a tutor you have never studied with.
We do not delete bad reviews
Tutors cannot remove, hide or reorder reviews of their own teaching, and neither can they pay to. The only reviews we take down are ones that break the rules below.
What does get removed
Personal data, abuse or discrimination, content about something other than the teaching, and anything we can show was posted to manipulate a rating.
Tutors get a right of reply
A tutor can respond publicly once to any review. The reply sits with the review so you can read both sides and judge for yourself.
How the rating is calculated
The number on a tutor's profile is a plain mean of their verified reviews — with two adjustments we think you should know about.
Recent lessons count for more. A tutor who taught badly two years ago and well ever since should not be judged on the old lessons forever. Reviews are weighted toward the last twelve months.
A rating needs a floor to appear. Below five reviews we show the individual reviews but not an average, because an average of two is noise dressed up as information.
We do not blend in any editorial score, promotional weighting or paid placement. If a tutor appears higher in a list, it is because of their reviews, their subject match and their availability — never because of what they paid.

Leaving a review
After a lesson, a prompt appears on your dashboard for as long as the booking is in your history — there is no deadline that quietly closes it. You can edit your review at any time, and the tutor sees the current version, not the original.
If you believe a review breaks the rules, report it from the review itself. Reports go to a person, not an automated filter, and you will be told what was decided.
